Maybe you were burned out. Disappointed with sales. Hated putting yourself out there with your book. Or dying to get started on your next project.<\/p>\n

Stalled book marketing can\u2019t be permanent<\/h2>\n
There are many reasons for your marketing to stall out, but it should be a temporary situation, not a permanent one.<\/p>\n
Your book deserves the attention you can continue to bring to it<\/a>. You wrote it to entertain, educate, or inform people, so you have to let readers who will love it know it exists.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s fix your stalled book marketing problem now.<\/p>\n
It starts with mindset.<\/p>\n
Here are seven things you can do to make the essential attitude readjustment that will help you get back to it.<\/p>\n

1. Surround yourself with positive people.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
And ditch the Debbie Downers.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/snl-rachel-dratch-debbie-downer-HFqr78CF5vVXq\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p>\nThey will suck the life out of you.<\/p>\nTruth is, the negative, whiny people in your circle are often uncomfortable with what you\u2019ve accomplished.<\/p>\nThey fear your success. In their minds, the higher you soar, the more likely you are to leave them behind.<\/p>\nI realize, of course, that you can\u2019t always remove these people from your life. But you can certainly get some distance.<\/p>\nMake that a goal, because you can\u2019t fly high with anchors weighing you down.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Resurrect that book marketing plan.<\/strong><\/h3>\nYour book marketing plan is your action blueprint. It details what you want to accomplish and how you\u2019re going to do that.<\/p>\nIf you\u2019ve got one, pull it out now and review it.<\/p>\nNever created one? In late December, we meet to review what we accomplished that year and to share goals for the coming 12 months. We follow the annual review with regular check-ins that hold us accountable for hitting those milestones, or explaining why we didn\u2019t.<\/p>\nLook for someone who can do this for you \u2013 and vice versa. Another author is your best option, but it\u2019s not necessary. All you need is a friend or colleague who also needs accountability support.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Get out of your comfort zone. <\/strong><\/h3>\nNothing invigorates me like learning how to do something new, especially when I think that \u201csomething\u201d is over my head.<\/p>\nTake a few minutes to list book marketing-related tactics you think would work for your book and its audience, but that intimidate you for whatever reason.<\/p>\nHere are mine just to give you a few ideas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating short social media videos quickly<\/li>\n<li>Creating short social media videos quickly<\/li>\n<li>Creating short social media videos quickly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n(I have to get over this, right?)<\/p>\nWhether yours include contacting an up-there-at-the-top <a href=\"https:\/\/buildbookbuzz.com\/who-should-you-ask-to-endorse-your-book\/\">influencer for a book blurb<\/a> or mastering <a href=\"https:\/\/buildbookbuzz.com\/booktok-for-book-marketing\/\">TikTok<\/a>, pick one and start. Just start<\/em>.<\/p>\nI promise that you\u2019ll love the feeling that pushing your boundaries a bit gives you.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Find your tribe.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/buildbookbuzz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Depositphotos_88165986_S.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15681\" src=\"https:\/\/buildbookbuzz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Depositphotos_88165986_S-300x253.jpg\" alt=\"stalled book marketing 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a>Do you often feel like you write in a vacuum?<\/p>\nThe people you spend the most time with don\u2019t understand your publishing challenges, struggles, and successes \u2013 not your co-workers, your friends, your family.<\/p>\nYou need to plug into a <a href=\"https:\/\/buildbookbuzz.com\/author-community\/\">writerly community<\/a>. If you\u2019re already connected to other authors, it\u2019s time to reconnect or participate more.<\/p>\nAttend those meetups in person. Join the Zoom gatherings. Engage more in the Facebook groups (and please join the brilliant authors in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/BuildBookBuzz\">Build Book Buzz Book Marketing Group<\/a> on Facebook).<\/p>\nStart conversations. Pay attention to what group members share about their book marketing experiences. Ask them to brainstorm with you \u2013 and return the favor.<\/p>\n<h3>6. Create a mastermind group.<\/strong><\/h3>\nIf you\u2019re already connected to authors \u2013 if you\u2019ve found your tribe \u2013 invite a select few to join a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.score.org\/blog\/5-essential-rules-building-mastermind-group-gets-results\">mastermind group<\/a>.<\/p>\nNot already networking with other authors? Now\u2019s a great time to get started. A small, focused mastermind group will work fine.<\/p>\nWith a goal of helping each other keep the momentum going \u2013 and that can be for more than marketing \u2013 establish ground rules and a regular meeting schedule.<\/p>\nYour reward will be inspiration, insight, and priceless moral support.<\/p>\n<h3>7. What seemed to contribute to awareness and maybe even sales? What disappointed you?<\/p>\nWhat did you share on social media that generated lots of engagement? Which types of posts got crickets?<\/p>\nIf you didn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/buildbookbuzz.com\/how-to-track-book-marketing-activity-and-results\/\">track activity and results<\/a>, scroll back through your social media posts. Check likes and comments on launch-period blog posts. Review the open rate and unsubscribes for newsletter mailings.<\/p>\nInvest a few minutes reflecting on what triggered the highs; what triggered the lows. All of this will help identify where to put your effort again.<\/p>\n<h2>What are you going to do now?<\/h2>\nWhich of these seven options will you start with?
